Blogs
A journal kept online which is published in reverse chronological order; usually authored by one person but available to the public. Teachers might use blogs to communicate notes, etc. to students or to communicate with parents or the outside community about classroom activities, etc.

A live discussion open to the public where synchronous participation occurs outside of class time. Could be used for review sessions or for live discussions about a classroom activity or live event such as a news conference.

Document Access & Sharing
Provides the ability to create and share WORD, EXCEL and POWERPOINT documents online. Data collection is also included in the general definition for document sharing; student writing assignments might be reviewed and/or corrected by teachers online; controlled document editing features permit collaboration for central office personnel with selected users.

Web-based software designed to allow faculty, teachers, and students to communicate and use online materials and activities to complement face-to-face teaching.

An acronym for Personal On-Demand broadCasting. The ability to syndicate downloads to portable media players and personal computers with automatic updates when new content is added makes podcasts different from other digital media formats. Podcasts enable students and teachers to share information with anyone worldwide at anytime; video and audio digital files may be embedded in these broadcasts.
